Illness often brings in negativity and steals away the enthusiasm life otherwise has. While it may not be always possible for one to ward off the diseases but certainly one can delay or minimize its effect by taking preventions in the form of healthy food.

Out of the five sensory organs human has, eyes have been considered to be the most important because if one of the other organs stops working, it is the eyes that thwart us from danger.

We rely only on what we see. So the importance of considering the health of the eyes cannot be unheeded, Even our brain has a major part dedicated to vision than to other sense organs.

Why do we see more number of kids with low vision now days?

Low vision can happen at any age. However, in the present era, we see that kids are exposed to a range of multimedia devices ranging from mobile phone to tablet, laptop or even increased access to television. With the harmful rays getting emitted from these devices and kids getting addicted to these devices, there is a direct effect on their eyes thus reducing the vision.

  1. Citrus fruits and vegetables– Red peppers are a source of Vitamin C which is a blessing for the eyes’ blood vessels. It also helps in reducing the chances of cataracts. The point to keep in mind here is that heating breaks down Vitamin C, so one should try having raw as much as possible. Apart from red peppers, Vitamin C is also found in vegetables like cauliflower, lemon, and fruits like papaya, oranges, and strawberries.
  2. Dark Leafy Veggies – It is worth listening to your mom’s advice of eating greens well in time before it gets too late. Rich in Vitamin A, C, and E these dark green vegetables are good for maintaining eyesight and preventing eye-related diseases like cataracts and macular degeneration.   10. Whole Grains – Eating refined white flours lead to increased chances of contracting eye diseases. Instead one should prefer eating whole grains. Vitamin E, zinc and niacin found in whole grains aid in good health of the eyes. Legumes such as chickpeas, black-eyed peas, kidney beans, lentils contain nutrients that help with the cataract formation along with preventing loss of eyesight.
